California Common Core VAPA Standards
The document seen below is something I created to use with each lesson plan I write. The color coding and single-page format allow me to easily find the information I need and highlight the standard(s) included within the lesson. I am currently workin on creating a similar two-page document where I can easily read and reference the appropriate ELA and ELD standards I will teach.
Rubrics
I often use rubrics as a learning tool for students to better understand what is expected of them and then used as a reference throughout the lesson. Just prior to completing the lesson, I use the rubric as a self-assessment tool by asking students to grade their own assignment thus far. The students then use the self-assessment to make final adjustments before turning in their work. I will then complete the final assessment using the same rubric. Using rubrics in this manner has helped students learn the artistic academic vocabulary and has helped them to better manage their time throughout the learning segment.
